A Letter with a View

Hey Mum, Dad, Milly and Immy;

I really wish you could see the view right now. Even if you weren’t out of breath from the walk up, your breath would be taken away. I really want you all to be sitting down on this ground with me. This weird spongy, bouncy ground formed from what used to be a volcanic crater. I really want you all to be sitting down on this ground eating paninis with me. Paninis and ginger beer from the little sandwich shop at the foot of the mountain. I really want you all to be sitting down on this ground eating paninis and drinking ginger beer, looking out at the 360 degrees of panoramic view with me. Mum is looking out across the river, the orange edges of the crater cutting into her peripheral vision, dad is looking out over the city, the ferris wheel and the Scott Monument dominate the skyline. To his left is the Castle on the Rock, in his view and in Milly’s. Milly is looking at the castle and the fields spanning for eons. Fields and lakes that would branch on forever had the ocean not been there. Imogen is looking at the ocean. The ocean that spans endlessly. A plain of blue, deep blue, deep deep blue and a single white sailboat to give a sense of size and immensity. I really want you all to be sitting down on this ground eating paninis and drinking ginger beer, looking out at the 360 degrees of panoramic view of river, rocks, oceans, lakes, fields, a city and a castle. With me.

I wish you guys were here with me.

Come to Arthur's Seat with me.
